Remembrance

The lyrics for this song, as far as I can establish, are from a poem found by David Kendall in an abandoned telephone box.  The poet is unknown as far as I can tell but they made it very easy to write this song.  Hope you like it - lest we all forget.

This song is dedicated to the memory of Oliver James Pidgley (Jim) Born 2nd September 1928, Died 17th February 2009.  You will be greatly missed by us all.

Come On

Words and Music by me and written around the 1st December 2007.  It's a feel good type song about appreciating life and love.

Higher Ground

Higher Ground was written in June 2007 but it's a song that took over 40 years to write.  It's a song about the struggle of floor singers and folk clubs.  It's about how hard it can sometime be when a folk singer doesn't get the chance to sing at his local folk club purely because, at that time maybe, there were better singers that were given priority in the singers list or maybe there was simply no time.  Whatever the reason, it hurts and can destroy the confidence of a starting out folk singer and upset even those who have many years to their singing career.

Higher Ground is currently getting plenty of plays at my space.  A local act has already asked if they can incude this song in their set.

To Russia with Love

A stange title I suppose but when you know what the song is about you can see it makes sense,  The song was written for the Children of Chernobyl and in particular for the Chernobyl Childrens Life Line - North Wales Link.  My wife Shirley and me had two of these delightful children to stay with us for a month this June 2007 and we'll have more next year.  The children come over from Belarus, paid for by the charity, to build up their immune systems.  The song was written so that the twelve visiting children could sing the song with me at the "To Russia to Love Concert" held on 30th June 2007.  The concert we organised has raised £5000.  You can read more about the charity here.

My Country

My Country is an emotive song inspired by my walks up Snowdon Mountain and the other mountains around Snowdon.  The song was featured on Sky TV, HTV Wales and numerous Radio Stations around the UK.  Some of the local acts sing this song.

All I Want Is More

This was one of the first songs I wrote for Shirley, my long suffering Wife.

Dance The Line 

Someone said they would like me to write a Line Dance song so this is one of but three written over the last few years. 

A Ship they call Forgiven

Inspired by my sailing.  It refers to a Sea Eagle leading a lost sailor back to port and the relationship that develops as the sailor feeds the Eagle hand to mouth.

Goodbye America

Written on the plane on my way back from the states.   This is one of the songs I hope my lost son in the states finds one day.  His name is Christopher John (Owen as Christened) and his mothers name is Kathryn Elizabeth Flynn.  Christopher was born June 11, 1990, England.  Kathryn was born October 19, 1963.  Please use the Contact page to get in touch if you know the whereabouts of my son.

Lean on me

Written for my wedding during which it was played for Shirley and the guests.  She held back the tears very well - said it would spoil her make-up.

Never been teribbly sure what this song was all about.  I'll let you draw your own interpretation.

Written for a girl called Liz many, many years ago.  My friend and fellow entertainer likes this song and has sung it himself from time to time.
